A relatively new tradition is the wacky January 1 parade which starts at 6 Corners at 12 noon and heads east down Ocampo to Constitucion where it turns north on Galeana, the street behind the church. David Bryen: Diminishing Fear's Power
Fear constricts our attention and disconnects us from the deeper resources of the soul. In this presentation, David Bryen will address these issues and more. He will explain the internal skills, that when developed, strengthen the muscles of awareness and attention that allow us to diminish fear's power, and to come into a more satisfying relationship with the fear in the world.
David Bryen was a professional therapist moving here from Oregon. He pursues 'An Exploration of Consciousness'. Through his music, his poetry, his writing and his teaching, he always defends access to our inner life.

'Chili Cook-Off' Feb 10-11-12, 2012
This year's cook-off will move...inside the Tobolandia grounds. Not only will it provide for much better security, but the site is immediately behind the water slides and consists of three grass-covered and shaded soccer fields. There is a permanent, shaded stage, along with plenty of room around it, a very large shaded area of our tianguis, a shaded avenue for our parade and another new event at this year's cook-off will be the Cruz Roja Duck Race. They'll be using one of the big float rivers at Tobolandia for the races.
We're still signing up contestants for the People's Choice Salsa/Home-Cook chili and Restaurant Chef chili events and have added another new People's Choice contest, Best Lakeside Margarita.
The new location will be much easier to navigate and much safer.
Entertainment schedule, parade routes etc, coming soon.

Cruz roja Trip to Costco Galeria

Tickets may be purchased at the Cruz Roja table (near the snack bar) at the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) Monday - Friday from 10 to Noon.
All tickets must be paid at the time of booking. Trips are subject to cancellation when fewer than 20 people sign up. No replacement or refunds can be allowed if not used for the date of purchase unless the trip is cancelled.
Note-Our Air-conditioned Bus leaves from the Sculpture at the traffic light in La Floresta. While we are shopping, the driver remains with the bus, allowing everyone to safely store purchases on board.
Plaza Galerias - 200p. Departure time 9 am from the light at La Floresta. The Galeria shopping trip offers Sams, WalMart, Sears and Liverpool stores. Great restaurants. After lunch cross over to shop at Costco and the Mega Store. Returns from the Galeria area at 3:30 pm.
