| Niños Incapacitados del Lago, A.C., a non-profit, volunteer organization |
|
My name is Bernard Downes and I’m President of Niños Incapacitados del Lago, A.C., a non-profit, volunteer organization that helps low-income Mexican families pay for medical expenses for their children. We need your help.
|
We have been operating since 1994, and are currently helping almost 200 children. We need about 1,080,000 pesos a year to meet our current commitments. Expenses, such as heart and kidney transplants and dialysis, are constantly rising. We have spent 204,920 pesos on medications alone in 2009. We work hard at raising funds here on Lake Chapala in Mexico as well as in the U.S. and Canada. Niños Incapacitados del Lago is one of the few charities recognized and approved by the Mexican government.
Last year, a generous donor offered to match donations up to a maximum of 50,000 pesos, resulting in total donations of $115,000. This year, the same generous donor will contribute 500 pesos for every donation of 1,000 pesos or more.
Please note that 98% of our income goes directly to the children since almost all our overheads are covered by volunteer help.
If you are already a member of Niños Incapacitados, please renew your annual subscription which is a minimum of 200 pesos. Membership is automatic with a contribution of 200 pesos. Please give more if at all possible.

There are always more children in need than we have resources to help, and we urge you to contribute whatever you can to this very worthy cause.
