I'd like to share with my family and friends information on an organization in which I have become involved.

Lakeside Spay and Neuter Center and Dog Adoption Ranch has been in existence for ten years in the small town of Ajijic, Mexico. It was founded by two dedicated ladies who were concerned about the fate of the many unwanted and unloved street dogs here. Over the years more than ten thousand spays and neuters have been performed and many dogs adopted into caring homes.
The facility itself has long, open, tree-shaded runs with each dog having its own kennel. Improvements have been made over the years with more runs added and all now have concrete areas, play toys,blankets and shelter. There is a small kitchen area where all the meals and medicines are prepared.
The Ranch has grown to its present capacity of eighty dogs. We regularly have adoption days in an attempt to find caring homes for the dogs, but it is difficult to keep up with the demand for more space. Our current projects include an enclosed exercise area where the dogs will be able to meet prospective adopters and where they will be exercised and trained by volunteers. A memorial wall is also being planned and a new larger storage area for tools and supplies. A new well and water storage unit were the projects for last year, along with finally bringing electricity up to the Ranch.
Future plans call for increased perimeter security, fencing, more runs and hiring permanent employees to do the routine necessary maintenance. A dispensary with a supply of medicines, an improved kitchen, and an isolation area are also desirable.
